Hello and thank you for stopping by! My name is Abby, and I'm the artist behind Fishful Thinking Art Co. I started Fishful with the fish enthusiast in mind. A professional background in freshwater ecology has certainly helped with this vision. After a few years spent carving out a niche and narrowing down my creative interests, I’ve come to develop a passion for wood-art and painting. Thus, Fishful Thinking Art Co. was born!
As a fish biologist by day and an avid angler and outdoors woman in my free time, I bring my personal experiences and attention to detail into everything I create. While I've always enjoyed time spent outdoors, I thoroughly embraced the lifestyle while in university studying aquatic biology and fish ecology, and haven't looked back. Living in Ontario and working in the field of freshwater is reflected in many of my pieces, where freshwater fishes are often the subject. I am hoping to expand into more saltwater species as I further hone my skills in painting and pyrography. For me, art is a form of release, and a means of therapy that I return to time and time again. If that art brings people joy, that is more than I could have ever hoped for.
